PayPal Confirms Acquisition of Duff Research

PayPal confirmed Thursday that it has acquired mobile app developer Duff Research.

The effort comes as PayPal strives to “become more nimble and technology focused,” Reuters reports.

“Today, I’m pleased to announce that Duff Research – a group of award-winning mobile app developers – has been acquired by PayPal,” James Barrese, CTO of PayPal, writes in a new entry to the PayPal blog.

Duff Research is an innovative provider of full service mobile app development for some of the world’s leading brands and start-ups. Based in Sunnyvale, California, this team has shipped more than 40 apps. Duff Research has a team of award-winning engineers, who have won four “Best of CES” awards and even two technical Emmys.

“This talented team of engineers will be joining the PayPal technology team to help us build creative and simple ways for our customers to use the PayPal digital wallet,” Barrese said.

The firm’s 18 employees have been absorbed along with the company and its technologies.
