Not To Beat A Dead Horse, But…

… mobile will be the Internet, at least in 2020.

The Pew Internet & American Life Project released a new report saying by that year, mobile devices will be the main way people everywhere access the Web.

“By 2020, we’ll have standard network connections around the world… People will have joined the Internet who… won’t think of these things as ‘phones’ either–these devices will be simply lenses on the online world,” Susan Crawford, founder of OneWebDay and an Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) board member, said in the report. Also quoted is Steve Jones, co-founder of the Association of Internet Researchers and associate dean at the University of Illinois-Chicago, who said, “By 2020 I don’t think it will be so easy to distinguish between a mobile phone and a laptop.”

If you’re a regular reader of Mobile Marketing Watch, then you’re already prepared for mobile Internet marketing in 2020. We’ve explained how mobile-friendliness on a website is mandatory. We’ve also said the Internet’s shift to mobile may be a bit sooner than Pew forecasts.

So what have you mobile marketers out there done to get ready for 2020–or whatever year this all comes to pass?
