On Tuesday, new information came out of the mobile tech rumor mill regarding the forthcoming Windows 8 phone.
According to sources in connection with The Verge, the eagerly anticipated operating system will include a number of highly attractive features.
Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system will include a new Rooms feature that will allow friends and family to chat in a virtual room and share data.
“Although Windows Phone already has a Groups feature,” the report reads, “Rooms is said to be a new option that will create an interactive group full of friends or family.”
Based on what we know for now, a text message will invite users to join. From there, participants can privately share all sorts of goodies – calendar items, photos, and notes, etc.
With Apple’s new iPhone reportedly due to drop as early as next week, some believe that the 2012 holiday shopping wars in mobile tech will be dominated by iPhones vs. Windows 8 phones.
