Sales expectations for Apple’s two new iPhones inside of Japan are practically off the charts.
As MMW reported earlier this week, beginning next Friday in Japan, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be available through Docomo, Japan’s largest wireless operator with some 60 million subscribers.
In the last year, however, the carrier has reportedly seen a large exodus of subscribers looking to find coverage for their iPhone on a competing carrier. With Apple’s two new iPhones – the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C – arriving in Japan next week, happy days may be here again for Docomo.
According to a Thursday report from Japan’s Nikkei, the carrier purportedly expects the iPhone to be responsible for 40% or more of its future smartphone contracts.
“We’re thrilled to offer the incredible new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c to our customers,” Kaoru Kato, President and CEO of NTT DOCOMO, Inc. said Tuesday. “We know our customers will enjoy the amazing experience of iPhone on DOCOMO’s high-quality network.”
