With the clock counting down faster each day, reports surfaced on Monday morning that the Mac App Store may open its digital doors for business as early as next Monday.
Many developers have begun reporting that Apple has encouraged them to have their applications ready by today’s date, a situation prompting some to believe that the Mac App Store will arrive imminently.
According to a Monday news insert from from AppleTell:
An inside source has just told us that Apple is targeting a Monday, December 13th launch of the Mac App Store. The company apparently told developers to have their software prepared for a launch as early as Monday the 6th of this month, but our contact would be shocked if that happened at this point. Apple has made no official announcements regarding this, and delays could always happen, but there?s a push to be launched before Christmas, well ahead of the previously estimated January release.
The pre-Christmas launch of the Mac App Store may come as a premature surprise to some, but others see the forthcoming launch as a great marketing tool for Macs this holiday shopping season. With more to enjoy from a new Mac – and a corresponding Mac App Store – Apple could get an extra sales bounce out of the early debut.
And, when it comes to Apple during the holiday shopping season, the “little guy” can use all the help it can get to attract customers (insert sarcasm here).
