NASDAQ Goes Mobile

Traders and investors on the go are getting an assist from exchange powerhouse NASDAQ OMX Group.

Ironically, despite being a longtime technology leader and innovator in market information, NASDAQ is a little behind scheduled jumping on the mobile bandwagon. But that changes this week as the tech-stock index moved forward with a free mobile version of its NASDAQ.com website.

A host of financial information optimized for web-enabled smartphones will be provided through the service, which is powered by mDog.com.

As the trading pits fade away and the financial instruments and trading mechanisms investors rely upon move to the computer screen the mobile channel, mobile solutions providers and marketers will have their hands full for as far as the eye can see to manage this transition.

“Investors now have instant access to a wealth of market information on NASDAQ.com from any location,” said John Jacobs, EVP, NASDAQ OMX. “This is another step in our continuing efforts to meet greater demand for timely information and to promote market transparency.”
