Mobile Marketing Chief at Sony Mobile Walks

Steve Walker, the Chief Marketing Officer for Sony Mobile, has announced his resignation from the company, effective next month.

His departure marks the latest change at the company as it strives to “restructure” its brand in line with the “One Sony” global operating model.

A 17-year veteran of the Sony trenches, Walker’s role will be filled by Jacob Sten, the individual who presently heads up Sony Mobile’s freshly formed product marketing department.

Walker’s career has, unquestionably, been distinguished. Just last year, he helped re-brand the company from Sony Ericsson to Sony Mobile and was integral in Sony’s “Made of Imagination” effort.

“The mobile business is at the heart of Sony’s strategy to bring consumers connected entertainment experiences across devices,” says Dennis van Schie, corporate VP for sales and marketing at Sony Mobile. “These structural changes will help support our ‘One Sony’ model of working and will provide the framework for our business to progress to the next level.”

“The launch of Xperia Z, along with a global marketing campaign of which I am extremely proud, marks the start of the next chapter in the company’s story,” added Walker in a statement released Monday. “Having reached this important milestone, it feels like the natural time for me to move on to new challenges.”
