Microsoft Prepping Xbox 720 Event for Next Month

In February, MMW covered Sony’s official announcement of the PlayStation’s next-generation video gaming system – a system so sophisticated that it will undoubtedly represent one of the most advanced gaming platforms ever devised.

Not to be outdone, Microsoft is said to be working on is next-gen gaming console as well. And we may get our first sneak peak next month, according to VentureBeat.

According to published reports Monday, the Xbox 720 (its rumored but unofficial name) will be unveiled by Microsoft at a May media event spectacle.

The Verge reports that Microsoft is targeting an event for May 21, a one-month delay from the previously reported April 24 date. That corroborates what tech reporter Paul Thurott said on a podcast last week.

Although the Xbox 360 successor has been in development for quite some time now, we’re told that one of the reasons for the grand unveiling delay is that Microsoft actually wants to show off the hardware and demonstrate the system at its media event – something Sony didn’t do in February with the next-gen PlayStation.
