The most closely guarded secret surrounding Microsoft’s forthcoming Surface Pro tablet has finally… surfaced.
On Thursday, the tech titan revealed that January’s release of the Microsoft answer to Apple’s iPad will come with a pretty competitive price tag.
The 64GB version will be priced at $899 while the 128GB version will run you $999.
Surface with Windows 8 Pro uses the same familiar elegant design principles as Surface with Windows RT including the Dark Titanium VaporMg casing, dual 2×2 MIMO antennas designed specifically for Surface and of course the kickstand.
So… will tablet lovers flock to the Surface Pro when it debuts in early 2013?
“At that price, by the time you add the keyboard you’re at the price of an 11-inch MacBook,” says Wes Miller, an analyst at Kirkland.
“Everyone always says, ‘well, Apple is so expensive,’ but here we are in that same neighborhood looking at houses,” Miller tells Bloomberg.
