Physicians Interactive is burning up the mHealth news space with hype surrounding an enhanced version of its Skyscape RxDrugs mobile resource.

Now delivering “full formulary support,” the service’s enhancement enables prescribers to check health plan coverage of thousands of brand name and generic drugs for their patients, right at the point of care, Physicians Interactive says.

RxDrugs offers information on 5,000 health plans, covering all 50 states, and is updated monthly.

“Prescribers and pharmacists can now have access to a mobile formulary that fits into their natural workflow right on their smartphone or tablet, providing coverage status insight from an unprecedented collection of health plans,” says Sanjay Pingle, president of Physicians Interactive. “Patients expect healthcare professionals to quickly have answers at their fingertips; RxDrugs ensures that they have the prescribing information they need – right when they need it.”

The enhanced version of the RxDrugs app promotes formulary compliance and efficiently communicates formulary updates to healthcare providers.

“The sheer number of available prescribed medications is staggering and new therapies are coming out at a frightening pace,” adds Jordan G. Safirstein, FACC, FSCAI; Interventional Cardiologist in Morristown, New Jersey. “The addition of formulary coverage, to what is already the best and most comprehensive mobile pharmacopeia, makes managing patients safer and more efficient.”
