Latest BuzzCity Report Provides Glimpse into Mobile Advertising Growth Worldwide

The latest quarterly summary out from mobile ad network BuzzCity details some interesting stats on where mobile ads are being served worldwide, what devices they’re being served to, and the differences in usage across the globe.

Though limited to just one ad network out of hundreds worldwide, there’s still some interesting insights, such as the fact that the U.K is the only major market where BlackBerry dominates as the leading handset, with 71.7% market share.  Campaigns in the U.K. were said to be driven by heavy promotion of apps as well.  The company also said Turkey now delivers more than 350 million banners per quarter, which is more than double the traffic from a year prior in that region.

BuzzCity reports five markets now deliver over one billion ads per quarter, including India, Indonesia, the US, Vietnam and — a new entrant in Q3 — Brazil.  Among handset manufacturers, Nokia maintains top spot (52%) as the most popular handset brand for internet access, followed by BlackBerry in second place (11%) and Samsung (10%).  For BuzzCity itself, it’s reporting that its network grew by 11%, with the top 20 countries delivering 78% of all banners served — which now totals 26.2 billion.  In the third quarter of 2011, over 33.6 billion ad banners were delivered across its entire network of over 8,100 publisher sites, reaching an average of over 300 million unique users per month.
