Jeb Bush Sends Twitter, Social Media into Overdrive with Romney Endorsement

michael11 years ago03 mins

Mobile users are burning up the social media landscape today, particularly Mitt Romney backers who want to make the GOP race for the party’s presidential nomination look like a done deal.

“Social media and the mobile channel aren’t just among the political tools being used in the GOP primary race today,” social media expert and independent business analyst Mike Randazzo tells Mobile Marketing Watch on Wednesday. “They are two of the most important tools these candidates have at their disposal.”

According to Randazzo, Romney’s supporters have set Twitter ablaze today with tweets and re-tweets about Jeb Bush’s critical endorsement of the former Massachusetts governor.

Romney “hasn’t definitely won” the nomination yet, CNN political analyst David Gergen said late Tuesday, “but in a campaign that has had many, many unexpected twists and turns, I think we may look back … and say tonight was the final big turning point.”

Without question, social media has helped Romnney tremendously in recent weeks. Just yesterday, Mitt and Ann Romney scored more PR points for releasing a YouTube video celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary.

From the Chicago Tribune:

The video, posted to YouTube on Wednesday, portrays a couple that came together at the age of 16, exchanged love letters during Mitt’s missionary work and convinced their parents they were ready for marriage.

Shameless political ploy or brilliant digital campaign strategy? Probably both. Either way, it seems to be working for Romney… just as it does for almost any candidate who wisely employs social media and the leading digital tools of the era today.
