The Lubin Business School at Pace University has announced that it will now offer a master’s degree in social media and mobile marketing. This program is slated to begin in January of 2015, and is big news for those who want to work in marketing.
Up until now, there has not been a program specifically tailored to preparing individuals for the fast-paced and unique world of social media and mobile marketing, even though those two areas are in high demand in the marketing world.
Dean of the Lubin School, Neil Braun, is quoted by RYE saying: “Pace University has long been a leader in experiential learning, and we are thrilled to take a step further with this unique collaboration with a leading industry practitioner.”
The program is designed to funnel students toward and allow them to work with massive companies like MTV, Fox, the Food Network, and Starz. This newest degree offering at Pace demonstrates a shift in the cultural understanding of social media, what it does, and what it should do—and especially acknowledges that social media and mobile are not the step-children of marketing, but in fact becoming two of the most lucrative marketing platforms.
