On Friday, the International Trade Commission (ITC) determined in its initial ruling that HTC is, in fact, violating two of Apple’s patents.

In winter 2010, Apple filed a complaint asserting that HTC violated ten of its patents. On Friday, however, an ITC administrative law judge determined that Apple was at least somewhat right.

The ruling dictated that HTC violated two of the patents in question. Still, the victory for Apple remains significant and could ultimately result in HTC products getting banned from entering the US.

As expected, HTC vows to fight.

“HTC will vigorously fight these two remaining patents through an appeal before the ITC commissioners who make the final decision,” Grace Lei, general counsel for HTC, said after the ruling was announced. “This is only one step of many in these legal proceedings.”

Just last week, Apple filed another complaint with the ITC on the basis that HTC’s patent violations didn’t end with the first ten alleged violations.

Apple says another five patents are now being infringed upon by HTC. At this time, however, it isn’t clear how long it will take for the ITC to reach a decision on the latest complaint.
