It was an epic opening weekend for Apple’s two new iPhones in China.
According to published reports today, China Unicom – China second-largest wireless carrier – reported that online reservations for Apple’s iPhone 5C and 5S have passed 100,000 units already.
The new iPhones launch in China this Friday, September 20th.
The rumor mill indicates that a deal with China Mobile – China’s largest mobile carrier – could be announced any time.
China Mobile Ltd. doesn’t have a distribution agreement with Apple for the iPhone. Cupertino, California-based Apple is close to securing a deal with China Mobile and is preparing to ship iPhones to the carrier, a person with knowledge of the matter said earlier this month.
If a China Mobile deal manifests in the coming weeks, Apple could see record-braking company sales across Asia this fall and winter.
