It looks like Apple has done it again.

On Friday morning, as preorders for the new iPad mini commenced, it didn’t take long for Apple to begin quickly selling out of its initial inventory for next Friday’s iPad mini product launch.

Before noon Eastern today, reports surfaced that the white and silver iPad mini model was completely sold out of first day delivery supply. People who order the device are now being told that shipments will come in one to two weeks.

For now, the black iPad mini is still being purchased with an anticipated November 2nd delivery date.

The deliveries scheduled for next week only pertain to the Wi-Fi models of the iPad mini. The cellular-capable iPad minis aren’t scheduled to ship before mid-November.

Nonetheless, based on today’s selling frenzy, it appears that Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller was right about the iPad mini’s higher-than-expected price tag. So far, it hasn’t deterred enough shoppers to prevent an opening day sales success.
