One of the first daily publications optimized for the iPad could be unveiled as soon as January 17th, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital.
Despite no shortage of previous launch delays, it is now expected that Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. will officially launch the digital publication next month.
The Daily is supposed to use a new “push” subscription feature from Apple, where iTunes automatically bills customers on a weekly or monthly basis, and a new edition shows up on customers’ iPads every morning.
In recent weeks, News Corp. has been hiring a veritable fleet of journalists and bloggers for the digital publication, about which few substantive details are known.
The daily publication, however, is expected to sell for 99 cents per week and be multimedia-driven.
Many tech analysts believe that a successful launch for this venture could result in a tidal wave of new subscription-based digital daily publications before the end of 2011.
