iOS 6 Debuts at Apple’s WWDC

Apple dazzled the developer community today as iOS 6 was unveiled in grand fashion.

First and foremost in the announcement were updates for Siri, Apple’s popular digital voice-controlled personal assistant.

Scott Forstall, Apple’s vice president of iPhone Software, said Siri is getting smarter.

To demonstrate the improvements – which are derived from Siri’s ability to draw from new data sources – Forstall asked Siri when the San Francisco 49ers play their first game of the season.

Siri quickly posted the full season schedule.

Additionally, Siri can now launch apps and also enables Facebook users to update their status and post comments via voice command.

Siri, which will arrive on the iPad through the iOS 6 update, will be integrated across numerous car dealerships in the coming year, too.

Toyota, GM, Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Audi, and others will all integrate Siri to provide drivers with hands-free voice-only “spoken alerts.”
