Retail giant Target is getting more and more comfortable with the mobile channel as a means to entice current and prospective customers.
According to published reports this week, Target is in the early stages of beta testing a new “instant coupon” effort in select stores.
The “on-demand” mobile offers may become more widespread – if not universal across all Target stores – if the trial period yields promising results.
“On demand promotions such as instant mobile coupons run for a limited amount of time,” says Target spokesperson Molly Koesnt. “The programs themselves have run from 2 – 6 weeks,” she adds. “While the promotions have a short life-span, these types of promotions will continue throughout the future.”
Although the current instant coupon promotion ends next week, Koesnt says Target will “continue to enroll our guests in the mobile coupon program.”
Interested customers are invited to join the program via the mobile Web, online, or by texting the keyword COUPONS to Target’s short code 827438.
