Interest from some of the biggest players in mobile and social in BlackBerry’s forthcoming BB10 line remains underwhelming to say the least.

According to BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins, BlackBerry 10 could become the “No. 3 mobile ecosystem in the world,” but it needs some help along the way.

Counted among those who are apparently not interested in helping are the folks at Instagram.

Sources close to Instagram tell AllThingsD that a native version of the photo-sharing application is not headed to BlackBerry 10 — not anytime soon, at least.

“There will be no [native] Instagram for BB10 for now,” an Instagram source tells AllThingsD. “Frankly, I’m not sure there will ever be.”

For now, BlackBerry is very coy about the supposed cold shoulder from Instagram.

“We have a strong partnership and are actively engaged around Instagram support for BB10,” says Martyn Mallick, BlackBerry’s VP Global Alliances, “but we do not have an availability date at this point.”

If they are not focused on BB10 why are they porting their Android app to BB10? Can you do that without being 'focused'?

One of the strategic benefits of BB10 is that it is cross-platform compatible. NO OTHER mobile platform can claim that. So whether or not an app is originally built in Android, HTML5, Adobe Air or BB Cascades doesn't really matter as long as it works! The news here is that Instagram IS COMING to BB10.

I mean really, do people get all bent out of shape about what environment their PC apps were originally written in?
