Instagram Confirms Mobile Monetizing Efforts

Instagram Confirms Mobile Monetizing EffortsFacebook’s hugely popular photo-sharing platform Instagram  will use mobile to monetize its juggernaut social platform, extending Facebook’s mobile-first mentality to its $1 billion acquisition.

And there’s never been a better time given the huge growth Instagram has enjoyed with its user base.

“Today we’re excited to announce that Instagram has grown to a community of more than 150 million people capturing and sharing moments every month,” Instagram announced over the weekend.

The platform has added 50 million users in just the last six months. Overall, 6 out of every 10 Instagram users are from markets out of the U.S.

Whether you’re in Moscow or Hong Kong, Berlin or Reykjavik, we’re more committed than ever to bringing you the best Instagram experience possible.

With mobile usage of the platform soaring in lockstep with other facets of its growth,  Instagram suggests that the time is now right to begin focusing on non-intrusive mobile ads and other monetizing efforts.

For the time being, there are no ads on Instagram, but that is expected to change within one year’s time.
