InMobi Says 1 in 3 Mobile Web Users Will Buy an iPad 3

On Friday, InMobi published the results of its “custom iPad-focused study.” And the findings are likely to make the folks at Apple very, very happy this weekend.

Next week, Apple will raise the curtain on its much-hyped and long-awaited third-generation tablet – the iPad 3. And based on InMobi’s survey results, one in three mobile web users are ready and willing to buy it.

Let’s think about this another way. Millions of Americans, based on this survey, are likely eager to plunk down at least $500 to purchase that which they haven’t yet seen, touched, or used.

If that’s not an indication of society’s love-affair with Apple and the quality products coming out of Cupertino, California, I don’t know what is.

“Nearly one-third of respondents are planning to buy the iPad 3, and 44% would only consider the iPad if purchasing a tablet,” says InMobi executive Anne Frisbie. “Interestingly, 65% of those who intend to buy an iPad 3 would consider buying an iPad or iPad 2 at a reduced price instead, indicating that whether or not consumers purchase an iPad 3 versus an older model, the excitement around the iPad 3 release will likely increase iPad penetration in the tablet market.”

Are you among the mobile web users who will apparently line up on day one to get your hands on the new iPad 3?
