According to the latest published findings by InMoboi, during the second quarter of 2011 smartphones accounted for better than 75% of ad impressions within InMobi’s North American network.
The new data represents a substantial spike from the 67% smartphone ad rate discovered in the first quarter of the year.
Based on projections InMobi is making off of current growth rates, smartphones will soon generate 90% of ad impressions – likely by the end of the fourth quarter. InMobi says in-app ads will be responsible for about half of those impressions.
Leading the way with ad impressions on InMobi’s network was Apple’s iPhone, which singlehandedly garnered 15% of all North American ad impressions in Q2.
But what you look across InMobi’s expansive global network, Android is the top dog – netting more than 33% percent of ad impressions. On the global stage, Apple grabbed 29% of ad impressions. Research In Motion’s BlackBerry rounded out the top three at 13%.
