Last week, MMW chronicled what was, technically, the 40th birthday of the cellphone. Four decades ago, a man name Martin Cooper – a vice president at Motorola – “stepped onto a New York City sidewalk and made the first known cellphone call in history.”

Since that critical moment in history, the mobile phone has undergone dramatic changes – all of which helped to mold and model the current ubiquitous devices we now depend upon.
