Infographic Social Media Ten Years LaterTen years ago, the concept of “social media” was so new, most couldn’t define it, let alone testify to having experienced or used it to any meaningful degree. But in the last decade, that has changed markedly.

“A decade is a long time – especially in the world of social media,” says Irfan Ahmad of SocialMediaToday.

“Today’s major social networks barely existed ten years ago, and early mainstays like Friendster and MySpace hardly resemble their former selves,” he adds. “And a decade later, we are Liking, Tweeting, Pinning, Plussing, and following more than ever.”

So just how much has social media changed since 2004? Check out this infographic produced by the folks at Engadget to see for yourself.
