We all know mobile shoppers are a force to be reckoned with over the holidays, but it may come as as surprise just how dominant iOS has proven to be in the mobile shopping arena.
Based on the findings of a new report, Apple products are used most heavily by mobile shoppers who are ravaging retail for gifts and goodies this holiday season.
IBM’s new report titled “The iPad Factor” shows that iOS users shopped more than three times as much as mobile users on the Android operating system.
The iPad in particular “generated more traffic than any other tablet or smartphone, reaching nearly 10% of online shopping.”
To put this reality further into perspective, Apple’s iPhone now accounts for 8.7% of holiday traffic, while Google’s much more expansive and pervasive Android platform accounted for only 5.5%.
If you look at mobile shopping purchases made on a tablet, Apple’s iPad accounted for 88.3% of purchases.
