The latest industry estimates from eMarketer suggest that India could be Facebook’s largest market by 2017.
If the anticipated growth over the next four years transpires, Facebook’s userbase could balloon to approximately 1.8 billion by 2017.
“The Facebook user base in North America is expected to grow by only 3.6% this year, compared to 34.4% in the Asia-Pacific region, 29.5% in Latin America, 31.8% in the Middle East and Africa and 29.3% in central and eastern Europe,” says Cotton Delo of AdAge.
“The explosive growth in places like Brazil, which is expected to grow its 69 million users this year to 103.9 million in 2017, explains why Facebook has been accelerating its business development efforts there,” she adds.
In the U.S., however, the percentage of Americans using Facebook (on a monthly basis) will climb from 46.4% to 49.6% ny 2017.
