Apple is about to break out of its 5 year business model for new iPhone releases. No longer will consumers have to wait a full calendar year for hardware upgrades.
More closely following the pattern of hardware makers in the Android arena, Apple may begin refreshing it’s red-hot iPhone more than once a year.
According to the hottest rumor in mobile this Monday morning, MMW is among the news reporting sites to hear about Apple’s supposed plans to release the iPhone 5S next summer.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek was the first to speak about a June 2013 iPhone 5 reboot.
“Based on our checks, likely updates include a new super HD camera/screen, a better battery, and NFC,” Misek said in a report published Monday. “Possible updates include an IGZO screen for Retina+, 128GB storage, and coming in 6 to 8 colors.”
Beyond the iPhone 5S, he doesn’t seem to think that much time will pass before the iPhone 6 drops.
“Several iPhone 6 prototypes appear to be floating around,” Misek adds. “The model with a 4.8″ screen is the most interesting. It has a Retina+ IGZO screen, a new A7 quad-core processor variant, and a new form factor with no home button. Full gesture control is also possibly included.”
