The team at Frost & Sullivan has been spending ample time focusing on the Hong Kong mobile service market, and the research provides some interesting insights.
Hong Kong, the research firm reveals, now has one of the most sophisticated and successful telecommunications markets in the world.
“This has been an important factor in Hong Kong’s development as a leading business and financial center,” the report summary reads, adding that in 2013, the number of mobile service subscribers in Hong Kong was boosted to 17.2 million, representing one of the highest penetration rates in the world at about 238.09%.
From 2008 to 2013, the number of subscription grew at 8.57% CAGR. In next five years, total subscribers will increase at a steady growth.
In the report, Frost & Sullivan states that Hong Kong has five mobile operators in a crowded market, including CSL, Hutchison, SmarTone, HKT, and China Mobile, all of which has continued to remain competitive through preparedness among the operators to restructure and be innovative.
New World Mobility, a JV brand between CSL and Telecom Digital, mainly targeting at mass market customer group, and providing them with best value for quality services. The number of subscriber of New World Mobility is projected to be approximately 0.68 million, 0.60 million and 0.49 million in 2013, 2012 and 2011 respectively.
