Groupon Gobbles Up Ditto in Latest Daily Deal Giant Acquisition

This week, daily deal giant Groupon announced that it is acquiring social recommendation and discovery app Ditto.

For Groupon, this is just the latest in a line line of acquisitions and bold moves that continues to make the company a major force in this burgeoning market.

Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

“We started Ditto a year ago to make it really simple and fun to discover new restaurants, movies, and things to do using your phone,” Ditto says on its official blog. “Behind it there’s an idea about changing the world.”

We can’t reveal what we’ll be working on at Groupon but we are excited to give it 100% – to enable this, we’ll be winding down Ditto. On April 30th we’ll switch off the service and remove the app from Apple’s and Nokia’s stores. We think you’ll love what we and Groupon dream up next.

The company says if you are using Ditto and would like to keep an archive of your posts, email them at support@ditto.me to have it taken care of.
