In addition to Google rolling out updates to the look and feel of its traditional search page today, the company also updated the UI for mobile search on the iPhone and Android devices as well.
When you navigate to Google.com in the US on your iPhone or Android device, and enter a search, you can now tap on the button to the left of the search box on the results page to see a new search options menu. Then, selecting any item in the menu will refine your search. For example, if you are looking for recent results for “Mother’s day gift”, simply tap the “Past week” option.
The changes reflect the options now available from Google on the traditional Web, which has been in the works for a while now- mainly menus to help refine searches or search just images, products, music and so on. It’s a welcomed improvement for the still somewhat cumbersome search experience on mobile devices. Google also noted that in the weeks to come, the company will be supporting more devices and locales, as well as expanding the number of options available.
