Last week when iOS 6 was launch in conjunction with the new iPhone 5, Apple was blasted by no shortage of critics in response to the removal of Google Maps from the platform.

Apple’s branded maps service has been panned in comparison to Google Maps – particularly by longtime fans of the Google platform.

Unfortunately for Google junkies, Reuters confirmed Tuesday that there are no plans to resurrect Google Maps inside if iPhone-land.

Google has made no move to provide Google Maps for the iPhone 5 after Apple Inc dropped the application in favor of a home-grown but controversial alternative, Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said.

“We think it would have been better if they had kept ours. But what do I know?” Schmidt said in Tokyo this week. “What were we going to do, force them not to change their mind? It’s their call.”

He said any decision “on whether Google Maps would be accepted as an application in the Apple App Store would have to be made by Apple.”

Apple is a quick learner, they have released the first version of their Maps and learning from it. Apple said their map app is cloud based and as more users they get more will be the improvement. No one is perfect everyone learns from their mistakes made, even Google who is in the industry from long time are facing problem with latitude app, it is showing friend's as stale with unknown location.

I think eventually Apple will bring its maps program up to Par with googles. They want to break away, and obviously they have to start somewhere, though I do think at least for the first bit they should allow google maps as an app.

That's the difference between Steve era Apple and post Steve mind set. The iPHone shld bring the best user experience for the end user with the best avail apps on its platform whilst at the same time proving n grown apps. To not do that, is a mistake for the overall offering of the product
