The season of giving has come early in the Android developer community.
If you haven’t heard, Google says it intends to introduce a new YouTube Android Player API.
This reality will allow developers to fuse native video viewing experiences with any Android application that they are creative enough to make.
As we understand it, the YouTube API will support Android apps for smartphones, tablets, and even the Google TV platform.
According to the few known details we have, the basic API code runs only three lines long and serves up automatic support for full-screen and orientation toggling.
Not surprisingly, the quality of the video stream will adapt to the quality of its underlying network connection. And, perhaps best of all for the mobile marketers and advertisers out there, Google says the YouTube API will, indeed, support mobile ad options.
The API will ship before the end of 2012.
