Foursquare has been available as native applications on all the major mobile platforms nearly since the beginning, with one blatant exception; Symbian devices. Though not as popular in the US as iPhone, Android or Blackberry, Symbian still represents the largest number of worldwide smartphone users.
Today on its blog, Foursquare announced the full availability of Foursquare for Symbian — bringing all the latest and greatest features to Nokia devices. Nokia had actually been working closely with Foursquare for several months to deliver a “unique experience” to their users. You have to wonder why it took so long to bring forth a Symbian app, and Nokia’s involvement could’ve been the leading cause.
In addition to all the normal foursquare features, Nokia smartphone users also get a new home screen widget, which displays an always-present snapshot of your friends’ recent check-ins and makes the check-in experience even faster. If you have a 3.2, 5.0, or ^3 based Nokia smartphone, you can now download your copy today.
