It’s been a rough week for Facebook. First, it’s recently acquired Instagram gets slapped with a class-action lawsuit, and now its new iPhone app called Facebook Poke – or the “Snapchat clone” as some disparagingly call it – has disappeared from the top 25 list on Apple’s App Store.
Launched last Friday, the app in question quickly surged to the top of Apple’s most downloaded new apps. But that was then and this is now.
Within a few days, the app tumbled from the top 10 altogether. Now, it can’t even hang on to a top 25 position. As of this writing, Facebook Poke continues to fall, hanging out in the top 30s for the time being.
So with all the new iPhones and iPads that were acquired for the holidays, is it bad news for Facebook that its Poke app is on the decline?
Not necessarily say some mobile tech analysts and social media experts who believe that the unwrapping iPhone frenzy this week probably means that more people are searching for more long-established, must-have iOS apps.
And for now at least, iPhone users have determined that Facebook Poke simply isn’t one of those “must-have” apps.
Have you tried Facebook Poke yet?
