Facebook sure knows where to find some amazingly talented leaders: Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California.
According to the latest tech world scuttlebutt, the social network of one billion members has reached out and picked another of Apple’s top former talents.
A member of the original iPhone team, Richard Williamson was formerly in charge of Apple’s mapping efforts. But the former Steve Jobs colleague is now working closely with Mark Zuckerberg.
Williamson joined Facebook in the past couple of weeks to be a manager within its expanding mobile-software group, said two of the people, who declined to be identified because the information isn’t public.
A ten-year veteran of Apple, Williamson was personally tapped by Jobs to build software for the first generation iPhone.
Williamson is just the latest of many former Apple employees to end up at Facebook. There’s also Greg Novick, a former iPhone manager; Mike Matas and Kimon Tsinteris, software designers; and software engineers Scott Goodson, Tim Omernick and Chris Tremblay.
