Facebook Acquires Mobile Software Startup Osmeta

Facebook has acquired a small mobile startup called Osmeta.

Launched two years ago by former Google and IBM executives, Osmeta is yet to roll out any official products. As a result, it isn’t yet clear if Facebook is simply acquiring the company’s talent or the hush-hush technology the company may possess.

A number of employees who had listed Osmeta as a place of employment are now indicating that they work at Facebook on their LinkedIn profiles. One of them specifically notes that he moved to Facebook after it acquired Osmeta in March 2013.

According to TechCrunch, Osmeta had 17 employees, all of whom were engineers.

The company’s “about” page describes this collection of talent as “world-renowned hackers and highly accomplished researchers capable of herculean software engineering.”

No word on how much Facebook paid for the company.
