The fusion between mobile devices and social networks is becoming stronger with each passing day.
New data published from Benedict Evans for Enders Analysis shows that the number monthly active users of Facebook’s mobile apps now exceeds 300 million. The driving force behind the surge, according to the report, is the expansion of iOS and Android app usage.
All told, approximately 40% of Facebook’s 800 million active users are now mobile.
As Sarah Perez of Tech Crunch observed on Thursday: “At the time that Facebook announced 350 million mobile users, there were 250 million mobile app users, he says. That means that over the past few months, Facebook has seen another 50 million+ become active app users. Impressive.”
What remains a mystery, however, is just how many Facebook users are exclusive to mobile access. That is, how many users does Facebook have who never access the desktop site? For now, it isn’t possible to deduce the size of that user-group based on information currently available in the pubic domain. But Evans estimates that number could be equally as impressive.
