This week, AT&T Mobility confirmed its new partnership with Facebook.
What’s the occasion? The two titans of their respective fields are joining forces to host a “hackathon.”
In particular, the event is for HTML5 developers concentrating on the social networking sphere of app development.
For developers looking to build the next big thing in social apps, what better place to start than the social event of the tech season? AT&T and Facebook on May 4-5 will host a special hackathon for HTML5 mobile app developers with a focus on social networking. The event will be held in the heart of Silicon Valley at the AT&T Foundry innovation center.
“Mobile devices are designed for social experiences, and some of today’s most successful apps use the Facebook Platform to bring those experiences to life. We’re excited to collaborate with AT&T on this Hackathon, to roll up our sleeves, and to help developers explore these great opportunities,” said James Pearce, Facebook’s Head of Mobile Developer Relations. “And there’s no better place to start that creative process than the AT&T Foundry, which was designed for just this – to help developers communicate with each other and innovate as fast as possible.”
In addition to competing for the first place prize of $20,000 and a featured spot in the AT&T HTML5 AppCenter for the best overall app, the 150 developers expected to attend the sold-out event will come away with “new knowledge, tools, business contacts and maybe even some prize money.”
