Demandware Labs Plugs Away at WordPress Plug-in

Demandware Labs has announced the development and launch of a new creation produced in hopes of extending the core functionality of the Demandware eCommerce platform.

The new tool in question is a WordPress plug-in, which is powered by Demandware’s Open Commerce APIs, and provides retailers with an easy, yet powerful way to make content published on a WordPress blog more social and shoppable.

Blog content is typically linked to a product details page on an ecommerce site. The WordPress Plug-In application from Demandware Labs enables a more seamless experience by allowing retailers to tag specific text and images with product details from Demandware Commerce, instantly bringing the shopping experience directly to the consumer.

Among the top attributes and benefits of the plug-in:

  • ¬†Greater return on investment from WordPress — Leverage blogs to increase conversion, average order value, and other key commerce metrics.
  • Higher consumer engagement — Drive more interactivity with blog readers, increasing customer satisfaction and the likelihood of repeat visits.
  • Improved SEO — Automatic embedding of product metadata into the body of the web page, increasing the probability of products being found online by consumers.
  • Faster innovation — Use as a starting point to quickly build and deploy innovative shopping capabilities throughout the blog.
  • Data portability and consistent brand experience — Provide a consistent brand experience between the blog and ecommerce site through Open Commerce APIs.

“Blogging is a critical channel for building a stronger connection between the consumer and the brand,” said Jamus Driscoll, senior vice president of marketing for Demandware. “With Demandware’s new WordPress Plug-In, powered by our Open Commerce APIs, merchants can deliver the same vivid product descriptions and images found on its ecommerce site directly into its company blog to further connect with its most engaged consumers.”

The WordPress Plug-In application is now available to Demandware clients and partners for testing and implementation.
