Delta Landing Apple iPads at Airport Restaurants Around the US

With the friendly skies already heavily populated with mobile devices in the cabin and cockpit alike, it’s about time for airports to catch up to their airborne counterparts.

To that end, Delta Airlines confirmed this week that it will begin distributing a sum total of 4,500 Apple iPads to airport restaurants across the United States.

Airport World revealed the exciting development on Wednesday.

More than 250 new iPads have been deployed in three restaurants at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport (MSP). The iPads allow passengers to order food and have it delivered to their seat in less than 15 minutes.

“Delta is following through on our commitment to invest in our Minneapolis-St Paul hub by improving the airport experience with these truly unique amenities,” said Bill Lentsch, Delta’s senior vice president for its Minnesota operations. “These enhancements on the ground coupled with our in-flight investments such as installing full flatbed seats in BusinessElite and Wi-Fi on more than 800 aircraft, make for a unique traveling experience.”

The full slate of 4,500 iPads will be deployed over the course of the next 18 months.
