comScore Says Android Getting Second Wind in Smartphone Share

According to the latest data released by comScore on Wednesday, Android is bouncing back nicely after giving up some ground in the smartphone space recently to iOS.

Findings from the comScore MobiLens service show that more than 110 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones during the three months ending in June, which up 4 percent versus March.

Once again, Android ranked as the top smartphone platform with 51.6 percent market share. That’s up 0.6 percentage points over the previous report.

Apple, however, still managed to see its share increase by 1.7 percentage points to 32.4 percent.

Not surprisingly, RIM continues falling fast and is now ranked third with 10.7 percent share, followed by Microsoft (3.8 percent) and Symbian (0.9 percent).

comScore also found that 234 million Americans age 13 and older used mobile devices as of the end of June 2012.
