Comcast Exploring Potential of XFINITY WiFi In California

With its subscriber base growing regularly by leaps and bounds, Comcast announced Friday that its Xfinity WiFi service is now available in California.

Xfinity WiFi now provides fast wireless Internet access in select cities in Northern and Central California plus Santa Barbara County.

Customers and non-customers are encouraged to look for “xfinitywifi” on the list of available networks on their wireless device and follow prompts to begin their WiFi session.

“Our customers are increasingly leveraging wireless devices, platforms and apps, and looking for ways to enjoy their entertainment and communications outside of their homes,” said Elaine Barden, Regional Vice President of Marketing for Comcast California. “With Xfinity WiFi, we’re providing them a fast wireless Internet experience while they’re out shopping, eating or otherwise enjoying their time in Northern and Central California.”

Comcast says it has installed and activated a few thousand Xfinity WiFi hotspots throughout California and will continue to install additional hotspots in California throughout the year.
