Celtra Raises $5M Series A For Self-Serve Rich Media Mobile Advertising Platform

On the heels of appMobi raising a healthy $6M Series B round of funding, another mobile advertising startup announced an equally healthy $5M Series A round today.

The startup, Celtra, provides a self-service rich-media advertising and analytics platform for mobile devices.  The company has been around for about a year and, though a self-serve platform, has worked with large brands such as the NBA, Kmart, Evian and Marriott to create and monitor mobile campaigns.

Though other self-service mobile ad platforms exist, Celtra has created one that goes well beyond what most offer.  The platform allows brands to focus solely on the creative process, while the platform takes care of all the technical work in the background.  Users can create ads that work within mobile apps or for the mobile Web, and supports iOS, Android and Blackberry.  The company says it will use its new cash infusion to further build out its technology.  The round was led by GrandBanks Capital and Fairhaven Capital.

“GrandBanks and Fairhaven will be outstanding partners,” said Mihael Mikek, founder and CEO of Celtra. “They have recognized our unique technology for scalable and cross-platform rich media mobile advertising. Both firms have extensive experience in our industry and can help Celtra scale operationally to meet the growing demand for our platform. This funding will allow us to grow our business and continue to develop our technology ahead of the market.”
