It’s more bad news for the BlackBerry smartphone and the folks at Research in Motion (RIM).

As if enough BlackBerry owners hadn’t already made the switch to Apple’s iPhone or Google’s Android-based platform, it now looks as though another major exodus out of the BlackBerry world may be on the horizon.

Although a small, regionalized sample of smartphone users was used to conduct the study, the latest research into smartphone adoption spearheaded by Piper Jaffray further illustrates what appears to be a global trend: dump the BlackBerry for the iPhone.

An impressive 67% of BlackBerry owners surveyed by Piper Jaffray say they will jump ship and buy Apple’s touchscreen smartphone in the near future.

Just 26% of those surveyed plan to remain with the RIM-manufactured handset. Meanwhile, 42% of Android owners intend to stick with their preferred mobile operating system.

Proving the stellar user-loyalty among Apple fans, a staggering 94% of current iPhone owners indicate that their next smartphone purchase will once again be a next-generation iPhone.

Wow, so many people were posting/talking about this survey and warning how RIM is going to lose 67% of it's customers to Apple in 5 years. These idiots do not understand
1: The sample size is (216 participants) not sigfincant enough to make any conclusion
    2. Count your numbers, it is not adding to the total. Please double check before calling your survey a valid one
    3. These people were picked from the same location ( Minneapolis) – Please do ramdom sampling when doing a survey : Basic step in surveying
    4. Shame on Piper Jaffray for doing a survey without following even basic steps. Did you send someone with a history major for this
    5. Shame on the people who take their own time to post this survey eventhough they know it is done incorrectly

Why dont they do the survey in South Africa.
I did a survey at work. We have 12 people, all with BlackBerrys. 100% of them said that is their phone of choice.
Maybe I should post this survey.

100% of work people will get another BB as their phone of choice.

Maybe your work where you did this 'new" survey only supplies BlackBerry to its employees? Oh, and you used such a wide cross section of "work people" (12), to come to your conclusion. You're a genius Jim.
