British Back Apple Brand Over Google, Microsoft, Samsung

The Apple brand is strong in Great Britain. But it wasn’t always that way. Only recently has the Cupertino, California-based tech juggernaut resonated with the British. And, boy, have they ever.

Judging by the findings of a new Superbrands survey, Apple is now the brand to beat in the United Kingdom.

“Our annual league tables are based on the opinions of marketing experts, business professionals and thousands of British consumers,” Superbrands says.

With regard to “Business Superbrands” (the UK’s strongest B2B brands), Apple took the top spot on the list, followed by British Airways, Google, Visa, and Virgin Atlantic. For the second of two Superbrands surveys – Consumer Superbrands (the UK’s strongest B2C brands) – Apple took the silver in second place behind Rolex. Rounding out the top 5 in this category are Microsoft, British Airways, and Coca-Cola.

“As consumers remain unsettled and fearful over what feels like endless economic doom and gloom,” observes Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the Superbrands Expert Council, “it is perhaps no surprise that we are turning to reassuringly familiar brands that we have known throughout our lives.”
