BlackBerry has finally delivered its BlackBerry Messenger service – or BBM – to iOS and Android.
The mobile masses have been waiting for BBM to turn up on the world’s leading mobile operating systems for five months. Although the Canadian smartphone maker was expected to launch BBM on iOS and Android in September, the cross-platform chat applications were delayed.
The delays were the result of a leaked version that was distributed, effectively disrupting the company’s formal release schedule.
“In the next few hours, people will start seeing BBM in Google Play, the App Store and in select Samsung App Stores – where it will be free to download,” BlackBerry confirmed today.
BlackBerry says its developers and engineers have been working around the clock on this and that “some incredible work has been done.”
