Our company actually has a unique concept when it comes to SMS coupons. We let customers search for any local products or services by texting a product and zipcode to 52771; users will receive a reply with the lowest price in their area. It's a little different than coupons; more of a price search engine.

Smart phones are becoming more and more prevalent in the mobile world, and so the evolution of mobile coupons only seems natural. I for one cannot leave the house without my iPhone and even at this early stage I’ve already adopted mobile coupons as part of my daily life! I’ve been using a mobile application called Peekaboo Mobile. It uses the GPS capability on your smart phone to detect deals and coupons available all around you. I’m always in a rush so it’s very convenient for me to be able to check out the offers all around me at the push of a button and then redeem them by simply showing retailers the coupon on my phone! The inforgraph shows how SMS still remains a desired source for a mobile coupon even on a smartphone. The mobile channel is definitely expanding at a rate larger than any other channel, which makes NOW the time to look into mobile advertising and marketing. I would predict mobile coupons to become so prevalent in the near future that customers literally can't shop without their phones and, alternatively, retailers cannot make a real profit without using mobile as part of their advertising and marketing strategies.

Interestng information, yet still missing proximity marketing via BlueTooth. With its significance in Asia and growth throughout Europe, is there a missing element for additional usage that does not require an app, a sign-up, or "checking-in". If you are at the store, mall or venue, with your BlueTooth activated, anyone can accept an offer and enhance both the buying opportunities as well as the customer experience of an unexpected reward. Smartphone or simple device, you are automatically included. All you need to do is "accept" what is being offered, or say "No" and walk on. Proximity marketing via BlueTooth is about to open many new doors.
