AT&T and LG Electronics today formally announced the launch of the LG Vu Plus, an AT&T-driven Mobile TV-enabled device.
Available only on AT&T, the handset will be compatible with AT&T’s High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 7.2 Mbps technology.
The device, which serves up expansive access to both live and delayed content from FLO TV for $9.99 per month, sports a touchscreen with four-line QWERTY keyboard. In addition to the entertainment content it primarily delivers, AT&T customers also have the option of signing up for the AT&T Navigator turn-by-turn service (for an additional $9.99 per month).
Other hyped attributes include AT&T’s Mobile Browser (which combines full HTML browsing with customization features for comfortable Internet surfing), the ability to view location-aware local news and weather, and AT&T Social Net, which delivers swift access (via one interface) to many prominent social networking sites.
“AT&T customers can stay connected to their social circle while on the go with this device,” says Michael Woodward of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “LG Vu Plus creates easy access to everything, from social networking to TV shows, while backed by the nation’s fastest 3G network.”
The LG Vu Plus will be available online and in AT&T stores beginning June 6th for $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
