HTML5 development firm, AppMobi, has announced the availability of its new PhoneGap XDK ( or “X-platform Development Kit”), which fully supports the open source PhoneGap mobile app development framework — which was just recently recommended by Facebook as the preferred way to create mobile apps for the Facebook platform.

The new PhoneGap XDK represents the only Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that fully integrates the open source PhoneGap platform, offering a suite of desktop development tools for creating mobile, HTML5 and PhoneGap based apps, according to the company.  The XDK incorporates tools for desktop mobile app debugging, emulation of mobile devices as well as hardware emulation of GPS, camera, contacts, and accelerometer inputs.

“PhoneGap has developed into a wonderful set of APIs, but a matching IDE has really been missing.  We’ve brought the PhoneGap community a free development suite that unleashes the capabilities of the PhoneGap APIs so that developers can create amazing apps,” said appMobi CTO, Sam Abadir.  “With the PhoneGap XDK, PhoneGap developers can create cross platform mobile apps without the need to own and set up complex native tool chains such as XCode for iOS or the Android SDK.  This tool dramatically reduces the code-debug cycle time for PhoneGap programmers.”

Developers can download the PhoneGap XDK here to get started.

PhoneGap is one of the most sought afterhttp://www.mobileapptelligence.com/cross-platform-appdevelopment.html platforms. PhoneGap is a set of JavaScript APIs which allows you to access the native capabilities of your device.  When a mobile app developer builds an application using PhoneGap, he is essentially building a mobile web site using HTML5 and JS just that he is putting the HTML and JavaScript on the phone. PhoneGap mobile applications run on the local browser on the phone and are connected to the native the native libraries through JavaScript APIs. http://www.mobileapptelligence.com/cross-platform-appdevelopment.html
